The Art of Awareness with Steve Zeitlin

Steve Zeitlin
Date and Time:
November 29, 2016 - 7:00PM
Event Location:
Kray Hall
Admission:
$10, $7 for students and seniors, free to Poets House members

Steve Zeitlin, founding director of the nonprofit cultural center City Lore, presents The Poetry of Everyday Life, stories from everyday citizens who transform the streets of New York City and its daily occurrences into poetry. In his talk, Zeitlin urges us to break down the barriers between our everyday selves and our creative selves, and choose the creative life. Joining Zeitlin will be some of his “teachers”—people who he met who exemplify living poetically including Praise poet Kewulay Kamara, Haitian poet Denize Lauture, Annie Lanzillotto, Queen of the Spaldeen, who has used the classic New York City rubber ball a potent metaphor for her life and art, and Storyteller Virginia Randall.
