2009 Poetry Publication Showcase/Directory of American Poetry Books Submission Guidelines

To submit books, please read the following guidelines:

The Showcase is an annual exhibit of all of the year's new poetry books and a festival of events presented during National Poetry Month. Last year's Showcase included more than 2,100 books of poetry, representing the work of more than 600 publishers: commercial, university, independent, and micro-presses. You are invited to participate by sending us review copies of your newest books for exhibit.

Inclusion in the Showcase is entirely FREE. To participate, complete the submission form and send us review copies of all your latest books. The 2009 Showcase will include all poetry and poetry-related titles (volumes by individual authors, anthologies, chapbooks, biographies, critical studies, essay collections, CD's, videos, audiotapes, etc.) published during or since January 2008.

• Organized by publisher so that the work of your press can be seen as a whole, it provides a unique forum for literary branding.

• It makes your books available to the acquisitions and prize committees who come to Poets House to review all of the new books for the year.

• It means your books will be listed in the Directory of American Poetry Books, which provides bibliographic detail for all of the books displayed.

• It secures your books a place in the national archive we are building here at Poets House.

• And it provides year-round exposure to readers and writers of poetry.

All books of poetry (full-length collections, anthologies and chapbooks), poetry-related prose, poetry audio and videotapes, CD's, and computer media published since January of 2008 qualify for exhibit. Books from vanity press publishers will not be accepted. Children's books and books of poetry published outside the U.S. are included in a separate portion of the exhibit, but they are not listed in the Directory.

Submit one copy of the form for each new book published since January 2008. Send two copies of each book to:

Submission Deadlines:
Forms must be received by February 28
Books must be received by March 27

**Note: We must have hard copies of the book for it to be listed in both the Showcase catalog and the Directory of American Poetry Books.
