2019: A Celebration of Bettissima with Merrill Oliver Douglas, Kathy Engel, Lawrence Joseph, Quincy Troupe & Margo Viscusi

In conjunction with the exhibition Bettissima: Treasures from the Elizabeth Kray Archive, poets read from the correspondence of Elizabeth “Betty” Kray, who co-founded Poets House, guided literary institutions, created new ways of bringing poetry to the public, and developed the careers of some of the most influential poets of the 20th century. Hear the words of June Jordan, Adrienne Rich, George Oppen, and other luminaries working out their poetics in letters and other documents.
Welcome by Poets House Program Director Paolo Javier, introduction by Poets House Board President Emerita Margo Viscusi, and closing remarks by Poets House Executive Director Lee Briccetti.
