New Mexico Poet Laureate Lauren Camp discusses new and recent work, as well as her experience as Poet in Residence at Grand Canyon National Park with host Patricia Spears Jones.

Lauren Camp is the author of five poetry collections, most recently Took House (Tupelo Press, 2020). Two new collections, Worn Smooth Between Devourings (NYQ Books) and An Eye in Each Square (River River Books), are forthcoming in 2023.

Honors include a Dorset Prize and finalist citations for the Arab American Book Award, the Housatonic Book Award, and the Adrienne Rich Award for Poetry. In 2022, she was Astronomer in Residence at Grand Canyon National Park. Lauren is the recipient of fellowships from Denver Botanic Gardens and Black Earth Institute, and a visiting writer position at the Mayo Clinic (MN). In 2023, she will be at Lowell Observatory and at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory as an artist in residence.

Her poems have appeared in many journals and anthologies, including Kenyon ReviewPrairie SchoonerThe Los Angeles Review, World Literature Today, Witness, and The Academy of American Poets’ Poem-a-Day.
