Pulitzer Prize winning poet Tyehimba Jess, author of Leadbelly and Olio, reads his own work and talks with host Cornelius Eady.
Tyehimba Jess is the author of Leadbelly and Olio, which won the 2017 Pulitzer Prize, the Anisfield-Wolf Book Award, and the Midland Society Author’s Award. Jess’ fiction and poetry have appeared in many journals and anthologies and he has won many awards including a Whiting Award, the Chicago Sun-Times Poetry Award, and the Lannan Literary Award. Jess is a Cave Canem and NYU Alumni and has received Fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Guggenheim Foundation, and the Illinois Arts Council, among many others. He is a veteran of the Green Mill Poetry Slam Team, and a Professor of English at College of Staten Island.
