A Window to Open & Time-Travel Through
Poetry opens time. In this workshop, we will see poetry enact time-travel for both its readers and writers through sensory explorations of memory, place, and site. We’ll feel around the window frame, inspecting methods and concepts of memory in poetry – especially in terms of how memory can transport, re-situate, or displace the reader within the poem. We’ll experiment with writing prompts informed by poems and poets working with time travel, place, and memory, such as Bernadette Mayer, Robert Fitterman, Renee Gladman, and others.
