Follow in the words of Federico García Lorca and Marianne Moore into the presence of

24 species of mammals
63 species of birds
48 species of reptiles
20 species of amphibians
3 species of fish
9 species of invertebrates

in Central Park’s Zoological Gardens. The gardens will be in radiant bloom in April and May when Poets House and the Central Park Zoo host their first literary salon and field institute. Sandra Alcosser, Central Park Zoo’s poet in residence, will lead participants through six acres and across twenty-seven centuries of poetry, introducing a world of international poetry and biological field notes about animals and their environment * ex and in situ. The expedition will begin and end at Poets House with the four intermediary sessions spent writing poems and field notes at the Central Park Zoo. Both poets and naturalists are encouraged to apply
