Join poets fahima ife, Danielle Vogel, and Asiya Wadud for a remote triple book launch celebration and conversation with all three poets reading from their new collections.

ife reads from Septet for the Luminous Ones (Wesleyan University Press, 2024), Vogel reads from A Library of Light (Wesleyan University Press, 2024), and Wadud reads from Mandible Wishbone Solvent (University of Chicago Press, 2024).

About the Poets:

fahima ife is a devotional poet and lyrical essayist. She is author of the poetry collection, Septet for the Luminous Ones, the chapbook, abalone, and her debut hybrid collection, Maroon Choreography. She has performed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of the African Diaspora, the Center for African American Poetry and Poetics, and other places. Her work has been published and celebrated in The Kenyon Review, The New York Times Book Review, Poetry Daily, Poets & Writers, Obsidian: Literature and Arts in the African Diaspora, and more. fahima is associate professor of Global African Aesthetics + Poetics, and director of the Black Studies minor in the department of Critical Race and Ethnic Studies (CRES) at the University of California Santa Cruz, where she teaches cosmic courses on roots reggae, cannabis aesthetics, goddess rituals, radical storytelling, poetics, and love.

Danielle Vogel is a poet and interdisciplinary artist working at the intersections of queer and feminist ecologies, somatics, and ceremony. She is the author of four hybrid poetry collections: A Library of LightEdges & Fray, The Way a Line Hallucinates Its Own Linearity, and Between Grammars. Her installations and site responsive works have been displayed at RISD Museum, among other art venues, and adaptations of her work have been performed at such places as Carnegie Hall in New York and the Tjarnarbíó Theater in Reykjavík, Iceland. Vogel is associate professor at Wesleyan University where she teaches workshops in innovative poetics, memory and memoir, and composing across the arts. She makes her home in the Connecticut River Valley where she also runs a private practice as a herbalist and flower essence practitioner.

Asiya Wadud is the author of five poetry collections, most recently No Knowledge Is Complete Until It Passes Through My Body and Mandible Wishbone Solvent. Her recent work appears in e-flux journal, BOMB Magazine, Triple Canopy, POETRY, Yale Review and elsewhere. Asiya’s work has been supported by the Foundation Jan Michalski, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, Danspace Project, Finnish Cultural Institute of New York, Rosendal Theater Norway, Beirut Arts Center and Kunstenfestivaldesarts, among others. She lives in New York City where she teaches poetry at Saint Ann’s School and Columbia University.
