About the readers:

Kathryn Levy is the author of the poetry collections, Losing the Moon and Reports, as well as The Nutcracker Teacher Resource Guide, a guide to poetry instruction. Her work has appeared in various publications including Slate, Cimarron Review, Provincetown Arts, The Seattle Review, The Southampton Review, and Manhattan Poetry Review, among others, as well as the anthologies The Light of City and Sea, We Begin Here: Poems for Palestine and Lebanon, and Adventures in the Spirit. Levy was founding director of The Poetry Exchange and the New York City Ballet Poetry Project, two poets-in-the-schools organizations. She divides her time between Sag Harbor and New York City. Maya Pindyck is a poet and visual artist. Her collection of poems, Friend Among Stones, won the Many Voices Project Award from New Rivers Press in 2009, and her chapbook, Locket, Master, received a Poetry Society of America Chapbook Fellowship in 2006. Recently her work has appeared in Prairie Schooner, Narrative Magazine, esque, New Haven Review, and Southern Indiana Review. A doctoral candidate in English Education at Teachers College, Columbia University, she lives in Brooklyn. Maya is co-founder of Project Voice, an attempt to deflate the abortion stigma by gathering as many stories as possible: projectvoice.org

Purvi Shah seeks to inspire change through her work as a non-profit consultant, anti-violence advocate, and writer. She won the inaugural SONY South Asian Social Services Award for her work fighting violence against women and recently directed Together We Are New York, an Asian American poetry project responding to the 10th anniversary of 9/11. Her book, Terrain Tracks, was nominated for the Asian American Writers’ Workshop Members’ Choice Award. Find her work at purvipoets.net
