Event Navigation
Same Same But Different brings together four writers with links to Australia, Iceland, Canada and the United States.
A companion event to Different Different But Same at Bluestockings, two of Australia’s most dynamic spoken word performers, Betsy Turcot and Eleanor Jackson, The Belles of Hell are teaming up with Shira E and a rawlings for an evening of readings exploring those things that matter.
a rawlings is a poet, arts educator, and interdisciplinarian who has presented and/or published work in Australia, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Iceland, the Netherlands, and the United States. Her first book, Wide slumber for lepidopterists (Coach House Books, 2006) received the Alcuin Award for Design.
Shira Erlichman is a nationally acclaimed poet, musician and artist. A Pushcart Prize nominee who has toured the country with some of the nation’s leading performers and writers, her prolific and unique style has brought her acclaim as “one of the most original and compelling voices in performance poetry.”
Chosen Family is an extended poetic dialogue between Betsy Turcot and Eleanor Jackson, two of Brisbane’s most dynamic and interesting spoken word performers. Set in a post-modern family, this poetic dialogue subverts the classic children’s story question, “Are you my mother?” to embrace kin in all kinds of flux.
This event is made possible in part through the Poets House Literary Partners Program
