POSTPONED: Literary Partners Program: Launch Party for Kathy Engel’s The Lost Brother Alphabet

Mar 26, 2020 | 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

This event has been postponed due to health concerns. Please check in later for an announcement of the new date.

Join us in celebrating the launch of Kathy Engel’s newest poetry collection, The Lost Brother Alphabet. Both ode and elegy, a song of grief and the tenacity of love made into the living and feeling word, Engel’s collection seeks understanding and beauty as the speaker seeks to keep living and to continue remembering. The author will read from the collection, followed by a reception and book signing.

Kathy Engel is a poet, essayist, educator, and organizational strategic consultant. She currently serves as Chair and Associate Arts Professor in NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts Department of Art and Public Policy, and Master’s Program in Arts Politics. Over the past 40 years Kathy has worked in many of the major social justice, peace, and human rights movements in the U.S. Kathy’s poems, essays, and reviews have been published and anthologized widely. Books include Ruth’s Skirts; The Kitchen, in collaboration with artist German Perez; and We Begin Here: Poems for Palestine and Lebanon, co-edited with Kamal Boullata. Kathy’s poems have appeared in numerous journals and anthologies. The video work Whowillkneel4you? appears on The Root and features a chorus of artists reading Kathy’s poem “To Kneel.”

This event is made possible through Poets House’s Literary Partners program. Poets House is an ADA accessible facility.
