Literary Partners Program presents: A Celebration of Tonya M. Foster’s “A Swarm of Bees in High Court”

Apr 23, 2016 | 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

A Swarm of Bees in High Court book cover

Join us in celebrating Tonya Foster‘s long-awaited debut collection, A Swarm of Bees in High Court, (Belladonna*, 2015) with Charles Bernstein, Rich Blint, R. Erica Doyle, Marcella Durand, Erica Hunt, Tyehimba Jess, Evie Schokley, and beloved friends. Tonya’s poetry “contemplates unspoken bonds of culture, geography, and race that bring couples and communities together, along with the terrible strains that can tear them apart” (Haryette Mullen). Swarm has been touted in Publisher’s Weekly, BOMB, the New York Times & other publications–we’re thrilled to celebrate Tonya and her generous work with toasts, readings and riverfront revelry.

Tonya M. Foster is a native of a home that no longer is what it was (as always): N’Awlins. Now residing between Harlem and the Bay area, she is an Assistant Professor of Writing and Literature at California College of the Arts and a PhD candidate at CUNY’s Grad Center, where she studies the poetics of place.
