Literary Partners Program presents: Book Launch for Paul Kane’s Welcome Light

Jun 15, 2016 | 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Please join us in celebrating the publication of accomplished poet, editor, critic, and educator Paul Kane’s sixth poetry volume, Welcome Light, a collection of astonishing range. The book includes poems emblematic of both impeccable form and adventurous innovation. It also includes groundbreaking translations of Hafiz.

Richard Howard notes: “Kane’s first five books established this poet as a varied master of five kinds of art; here in Welcome Light, his sixth, a distressed but never agonized poet offers amazing life within the established kinds of art.”

Kane, the author of more than fifteen books, has received a Fulbright award, Guggenheim and NEA Fellowships, grants from the Mellon Foundation, a residency from the Bogliasco Foundation, and an honorary doctorate from La Trobe University. He teaches at Vassar College.

The launch, which includes a reading and a reception, marks the inaugural publication of Audubon Terrace Press, a New York-based independent press.

This event is made possible through the Poets House Literary Partners Program.
