Online Program

Oct 10, 2020 | 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Fire and Rain: Ecopoetry of California is an anthology about California ecosystems. It celebrates the natural world and also addresses such urgent issues as climate change, extreme weather, pollution, invasive species, and loss of species and habitat. Co-editors Lucille Lang Day and Ruth Nolan will read with contributors Sally Bliumis-Dunn, Patricia Brody, Mary Makofske, Heidi Sheridan, J. C. Todd, and Anne Whitehouse. A discussion with the audience will follow.

A finalist for the 2019 Eric Hoffer Book Award in Poetry and recipient of a Literary/Cultural Arts Award from Artists Embassy International, Fire and Rain includes a foreword by past California Poet Laureate Dana Gioia, an introduction by Jack Foley, and more than 250 poems by 149 contributors. Scarlet Tanager Books is donating proceeds from the sale of the anthology to seven environmental organizations.

“A captivating and visceral portrait of the California landscape by a talented cast of poets.” — Kirkus Reviews
