Memory occupies a space between actuality and creativity, altering over years with the influence of other memories, desires, denials, and relationships. How do we know what we know? Poetry ameliorates what cannot be reconciled. In poetry there are certainty and uncertainty side by side. Participants will explore these ideas, leveraging the many dimensions of memory to generate rich new work.
One of our most expansive poets, Diane Glancy publishes in multiple genres, including novels, screenplays, and poems, often creating work that reflects her Native American heritage. Her poetry collection Primer of the Obsolete won the 2004 Juniper Prize for Poetry.
