Kwame Dawes is the author of seventeen books of poetry, including Duppy Conqueror: New and Selected Poems, Wheels, and Back of Mount Peace. He has also written several books of fiction, a play, and an exegetical work, Bob Marley: Lyrical Genius. He founded University of South Carolina’s Poetry Initiative book competition and recently edited Seven Strong: Winners of the South Carolina Poetry Book Prize, 2006-2012. He is the Glenna Luschei Editor of Prairie Schooner and Chancellor’s Professor of English at the University of Nebraska, and also teaches in the Pacific MFA Writing program.
