Nikki Stiller Reads from Her Recent Book My Mother Did Not to Hug: New and Selected Poems and her forthcoming Singing in Schul

Mar 25, 2017 | 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Nikki Stiller’s reading will be a celebration of life and a social event as well as a literary one. She will read from Notes of a Jewish Nun and the forthcoming Singing in Schul besides My Mother Did Not Like to Hug and leave time for meeting, kibitzing, and making connections. Light refreshments will be served.

Nikki Stiller’s poetry is accessible to both poets and laypersons: “I am a woman, proud and free,” she has written, “I eat what I want/I think what I want.” Praised by Czeslaw Milosz, a Nobel laureate, and Gabriel Preil, winner of the prestigious Bialik Prize, she has published six books and read at venues such as the Cornelius Street Café. She writes of unusual subjects-manicurists and even garbage collectors-but also more traditional subjects like history and religion, love and divorce.
