Award-winning and prolific poet Alice Notley leads an autobiographically-inspired discussion of the poetry talent – its rarity, mystery, and importance in the education and nurture of poets.
Alice Notley is the author of more than twenty volumes of poetry, including Negativity’s Kiss (2014); Songs and Stories of the Ghouls (2011); Culture of One (2011); Grave of Light: New and Selected Poems 1970-2005 (2006), which received the Lenore Marshall Poetry Prize; Disobedience (2011), winner of the Griffin International Poetry Prize; and Mysteries of Small Houses (1998), which won the Los Angeles Times Book Prize. She is also the author of a collection of essays on poetry, Coming After (2005). She lives in Paris.
Presented as part of the Emerging Poets Fellowship public lecture series, generously funded by the Jerome Foundation.
