PEN America World Voices Festival: Babyn Yar: Through the Voices of the Fallen

May 11, 2019 | 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

In her unique and controversial book The Voices of Babyn Yar, Ukrainian poet Marianna Kiyanovska honors Holocaust victims in a radical way: by writing their stories of horror, death, and survival in their own imagined voices. Kiyanovska will read from her work—in both Ukrainian and English—and discuss with fellow poet and translator Polina Barskova the process of channeling the experiences of those who witnessed unfathomable evil. Don’t miss this thought-provoking discussion about memory, responsibility, and honoring the fallen.

Free with RSVP

Co-sponsored by Poets House and presented with production support from the Poetry Foundation and Babyn Yar Holocaust Memorial Center.

This event was made possible through Poets House’s Literary Partners Program. Poets House is an ADA accessible facility.

Admission Free and open to the public
