Poetry and Its Forms II: Learn the Rules then Break Them
In this workshop you will learn about some key forms of poetry and have the chance to work on your own. What are the rules for an elegy, epic, sestina, and villanelle? Is the nonsense poem really nonsensical? And what is possible with an erasure poem?
Learn the histories and rules of these forms and then break them in this interactive and supportive six-session workshop. Each week you will study and read examples of different poetry forms and then write your own poems with prompts. You will have the opportunity to share your work and receive feedback. At the conclusion of the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to have a reading and invite guests.
Beginning, emerging and seasoned poets are welcome. This workshop is meant for those looking for an encouraging community of writers who wish to bring their writing to the next level. You do not need to have attended Poetry and Its Forms I to take part in this workshop.
