Poetry Summer: Intensive Workshop for High School Students
Jul 21, 2014 | 12:00 am
Event Navigation

For the first time, we are offering a week-long workshop for writers in high school to create and explore poetry in one of the largest poetry libraries in the country. Led by Dave Johnson (award-winning poet and teacher) and Mike Romanos (Poets House Education Coordinator), and featuring guest poets including Farrah Field (owner of Berl’s Poetry Shop in Brooklyn), these young writers will delve into the art and craft of poetry in a fun, creative and inspiring environment. The workshop ends with a public reading at Poets House.
Workshop participants will be determined through an application process and by an external judge. All interested high school students are encouraged to apply.
The cost of the program is $495. Full and partial tuition scholarships are available. We encourage a parent, guardian or teacher to provide additional information about circumstances affecting the applicant‘s financial status that may be helpful in the evaluation of the scholarship.
Application Deadline: EXTENDED TO June 13
