In a round-table discussion, John Felstiner leads an in-depth exploration of poems that reveal our spirited yet fraught connection
with nature, poems whose environmental imprint and impetus can freshen and sharpen our consciousness of the world around us.
Readings for the first seminar: Psalms, the Wordsworths, Coleridge, Keats, Clare, Whitman, Dickinson, Hopkins, Frost and Williams.
For the second evening: Lawrence, Jeffers, Millay, Roethke, Bishop, Levertov, Haines, Ammons, Merwin, Kinnell, Hughes and Snyder.

John Felstiner, at Stanford since 1965, is the author of Can Poetry Save the Earth? A Field Guide to Nature Poems and Paul Celan: Poet, Survivor, Jew.
