Four emerging textual scholars — Logan Esdale, Susannah Hollister, Liesl Olson and Emily Setina — share their recent work in the Gertrude Stein archives at Yale University, moderated by the collection’s curator Nancy Kuhl.
A reading of Stein’s poetic work follows.
Logan Esdale teaches at California State University, Long Beach. His new edition of Gertrude Stein’s novel, Ida, is published by Yale University Press. He is the author of a related article, “Gertrude Stein’s Twin,” which appeared in the journal Textual Practice.
Susannah Hollister is ACLS New Faculty Fellow in English at the University of Texas, Austin. She is co-editor of Gertrude Stein’s Stanzas in Meditation: The Corrected Edition (2012), which received the MLA’s Committee on Scholarly Editions Seal.
Liesl Olson is Director of the Scholl Center for American History and Culture at the Newberry Library in Chicago. Her first book is Modernism and the Ordinary (2009). She provides the introduction to Gertrude Stein’s Narration: Four Lectures (2010).
Emily Setina is Assistant Professor of English at Baylor University. She is co-editor of Gertrude Stein’s Stanzas in Meditation: The Corrected Edition (2012). A former Watson Fellow with a PhD from Yale, her areas of study include modernism, textual criticism and poetry.
Nancy Kuhl is curator of Poetry for the Yale Collection of American Literature at the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library at Yale University and a poet.
