Poets House 2019 Emerging Poets Fellowship

The future of poetry begins this spring at Poets House! We are thrilled to announce the recipients of our 2019 Emerging Poets Fellowship. Now in its eighth year, the free 15-week Fellowship provides ten talented New York City poets with writing instruction, mentorship, networking, a community of their peers, and access to Poets House resources. This year’s Fellows are the following:

Rabih Ahmed

Kiran Bath

Catherine Chen

Charlene Francois

Trevor Ketner

Shalewa Mackall

James Fujinami Moore

Val Rigodon

Sarah M. Sala

Nicole Wallace

This year’s program will include a weekly workshop led by Workshop Coordinator Anselm Berrigan; one-on-one meetings with other distinguished poets; free access to Poets House events; and other opportunities that foster the development of new writing and career advancement. Visiting Faculty includes Cornelius Eady. Guest Poets Steven Alvarez and Simone White will also visit the workshop and present public talks on April 30 and May 28, respectively.

We extend congratulations to the 2019 Emerging Poets, and we look forward to making a home for a poetry for these writers in the coming weeks and months. The program will culminate with a reading of new work by the Fellows on June 15.

This program is made possible annually by the Jerome Foundation.
